To remain compliant with SEC regulations, we require certain prerequisites of investors in order to complete an investment.
See more details on these requirements below:
-
Accreditation and Limits:
All investors need to confirm their investment limit by inputting their net worth and annual salary data in their Settings: https://wefunder.com/settings/investor_limits
If investors wish to invest above their 12-month limit, they need to show proof of accreditation. They can do this by following the prompts in their account Settings to upload financial documentation that proves their accreditation status.
-
Taxes and Identity Verification:
All investors are also required to verify their identity before they can finalize any investment(s).
Part of this process involves submitting their tax ID and other identity-related data for the Wefunder team to review here: https://wefunder.com/verify?kyc
If the investor wants to invest as an entity, they should set the entity up in their Settings here and keep their account name the same as their personal name. Sometimes investors mistakenly sign up using the business name for their Wefunder account.
-
Confirming a Reservation/Funding an Investment:
When you exit the TTW phase, all of your investor reservations need to be turned into real investments.
Investors are prompted through an email to log into their account and should follow the steps to "confirm" their reservation from their Portfolio: https://wefunder.com/portfolio
-
Proof of Ownership:
If an investor is paying for an investment or investing as an entity, we must confirm proof of ownership of the entity, which can be confirmed through:
— Business operating agreement
— Tax documents
— State filing records
